Comedy dramas are some of the best shows to watch on the small screen, and Roar is yet another fine addition to the magnetic genre. But is the insightful, poignant, and sometimes hilarious portrait of what it means to be a woman today an option on Netflix?
The anthology series Roar was created by Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch, the same talented individuals responsible for the hit Netflix series GLOW. The eight-episode endeavor is based on a 2018 short story collection of the same name written by Cecelia Ahern. Each iteration of Roar is about experiences women have that are all considered to be darkly comic feminist fables.
The star-studded cast for this exceptional title includes Issa Rae, Nicole Kidman, Cynthia Erivo, Merritt Weaver, Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Fivel Stewart, Meera Syal, Jake Johnson and Hugh Dancy. The series’ main players have received praise for their respective turns in the show, as well as the composer Isobel Waller-Bridge and overall, Roar has received a solid score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Netflix has plenty of excellent choices for subscribers to stream and shows little signs of slowing down when it comes to consistently adding compelling content to its ranks. But unfortunately, not everything is on the platform, and it should be known that Roar is not available on Netflix.
The streamer does have some other excellent choices users are sure to enjoy from start to finish. Some excellent comedy-drama titles available now on Netflix include Dead to Me, F is For Family, Masters of None and The Politician, just to name a few.
The show is exclusively available on Apple TV+. Unlike other Apple series like Severance or Servant that release each iteration on a weekly basis, all eight episodes were made available when it was released on April 15, 2022.
